Clean Water Project

Here are some photos that may be of interest to you. Our Health centre has been completely rebuilt after Cyclone Justin blew the old one apart. The expressive murals were painted by local artists and attract a lot of interest. The painting shows how our Health Centre serves people who live on a string of islands stretching east of the mainland of Papua New Guinea.

An ablutions /laundry block for the hospital is nearly finished and with it comes the need for good water supply. Our mission is on the island of Nimowa which has very little running water. From about May to November each year, the south east trade winds blow away most of the rain, and we rely on wells to keewp us in water.

Many of our patients come with their guardians from neighbouring islands because travel is so difficult between the islands, this place becomes a home away from home for many people, often for extended times. Hence our concern for water.

A solar powered water pump would suit our hospital best, and I enclose some relevant information from Mono Pumps. They quote a simple maintenance automatic system for around $3,000.00.

Also our Parish cares for five primary schools. We are trying to obtain at least one Mono pump for school. Of course that is another $3,000.00.
